Who said you can only have hot cross buns at Easter? These fluffy vegan hot cross buns, studded with chunks of dark chocolate, are so good you’ll want to bake them all year long! Great toasted for breakfast, after dinner for desert or even as a quick snack after work or school, these dairy free delights are something the whole family will love. Made using So Good Unsweetened Almond Milk, they are a great one to cross off bucket  list. 

  • 11/4 cups So Good Unsweetened Almond Milk, room temperature
  • 1 packet dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp / 7 g)
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups plain white flour (270 g), plus extra for kneading
  • 2 cups plain wholemeal flour (270 g)
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or neutral oil, plus extra for bowl
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 100 g 70% dark chocolate (dairy-free), roughly chopped

For the crosses

  • 1/4 cup plain white flour, extra
  • 11/2 - 2 Tbsp water

To glaze

  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade or apricot jam (optional), warmed and strained
