This warming spiced beverage is perfect for a cold winter’s night. Unlike most chai lattes, it is caffeine-free so you can consume it with the assurance of a good night’s sleep. Spices are medicines you can pull from your kitchen cupboard as they provide strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. The drink is also lactose-free and gluten-free.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups So Good Lite soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • pinch ground black pepper
  • knob of fresh ginger, sliced
  • 4 cardamom pods, bruised
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ground cinnamon, for garnish

Method

  1. Place all ingredients, except honey and cinnamon, into a small saucepan and bring almost to boil, stirring constantly.
  2. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in honey to dissolve.

in mugs with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
